In reply to Hassan mahdi laith. Hi Hassan, In the article we have discussed HPLC guard columns.For GC analyzers or natural gas analyzers have never come across use of guard columns. The objective of guard column is to prevent solid impurities or chemical impurities from reaching the main column. In HPLC analysis solid particles can find their way to the main column if sample or mobile phase are not filtered adequately but in case analysis is based on GC technique such problem is seldom encountered.Overloading the column by high concentation or other impurities can be effectively overcome by adopting pre-vent technique.

For the natural gas analyzer , is it required to use this type of column (GUARD COLUMN).
